Dwight Adderley embarked on his career in the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) on 27th October, 1989. Between 1990 and 1994, he served in various divisions in New Providence such as the Central Division and South Eastern Division as well as the Family Island District of the Eleuthera Division. During this time, he fulfilled a range of essential police duties, encompassing General Investigations, Inquiries, Traffic Investigations, Station Duties, Mobile and Foot Patrols, and active participation in Community Policing initiatives.

Mr. Adderley transitioned from the uniform branch to the Criminal Investigation Department from 1994 - 2002. Throughout this period, he acquired extensive experience as a criminal investigator, crime scene investigator, and in the management of criminal records. He successfully conducted and supported investigations pertaining to a range of major crimes, such as homicide, armed robbery, rape, and burglary, and demonstrated expertise in managing, collecting, and analyzing crime scenes to gather crucial evidence. During this posting, he perfected his skills in the collection, identification, documentation, assessment, management, and dissemination of criminal case file information for evidential purposes.

From 2002-2008, Mr. Adderley served as the Course Coordinator and Lecturer at the Detective Training School of the Police Training College (PTC). During this time, he played a vital role in the development, coordination, and facilitation of various crime scene investigation courses, including basic, intermediate, and advanced levels. Additionally, he designed and led the Basic Crime Scene Photography course module and contributed to the design and facilitation of the Basic Fingerprint Identification and Retrieval module. Mr. Adderley also assisted in the development and delivery of Criminal Investigation courses at different levels and facilitated the First Responders module for Recruit Training. Furthermore, he took on the responsibility of equipment management and prepared the annual budget for the Detective Training School.

Mr. Adderley had a remarkable tenure at the Regional Intelligence Fusion Centre (RIFC) in Trinidad and Tobago, a sub-agency of the Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS). From 2008 to 2016, he advanced through the ranks and ultimately served as the Chief Analyst, a prestigious role second only to the Director. In the absence of the Director, he also assumed the responsibilities of acting as the Director on multiple occasions. As the Chief Analyst specializing in Strategic Intelligence, Mr. Adderley successfully managed critical Desks, including Serious Crime, Geopolitical Affairs, Terrorism, and Finance, Border Security, and Strategic Research. Mr. Adderley excelled in analyzing sensitive information from local, regional, and international partners, providing intelligence and technical support for security screening and border management during major events. He also prepared and disseminated information on potential threats, created executive-level Power Point presentations, and delivered presentations on crime trends at Intelligence Conferences. Mr. Adderley actively supported the Joint Regional Communication Centre (JRCC) and maintained strong relationships with CARICOM Member States. He contributed to the evaluation, assessment, and training efforts, as well as the development of National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Counter Drug Analysis. Engaging in counterintelligence, surveillance, research, and intelligence operations were also part of his responsibilities.

As the Chief Analyst, Desk Officer and Registry Supervisor at various intervals in the Security Intelligence Branch, RBPF from 2016-2021, Mr. Adderley played pivotal roles in intelligence operations. He supervised a team that was responsible for collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating information that had an impact on National Security. This involved producing comprehensive reports, conducting assessments, and proposing policy revisions. Mr. Adderley successfully implemented a streamlined digital filing system and fostered collaboration with regional law enforcement agencies. Furthermore, he served as a coordinator and lecturer for the Basic Security and Intelligence Branch course, imparting knowledge and skills to aspiring professionals. Mr. Adderley was seconded to the National Crime Intelligence Agency for eighteen months (2021-2023) where he headed the Analytical Department and played a central role in training his staff in intelligence analysis, analytical writing and briefing formats designed for specific audiences at the International, Policy Making or Departmental level. In April 2023, Mr. Adderley was recalled from his secondment and installed as the Director of the Security Intelligence Branch.

Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Adderley has achieved notable awards and recognition. In 1995, he was honored with the Commissioner's Commendation for displaying exceptional bravery. His dedication and excellence were further acknowledged in 2004 when he received the Officer of the Quarter Award from the Police Training College in Nassau, Bahamas. Furthermore, he was also bestowed with prestigious Governor General Awards for Meritorious Service and Long Service and Good Conduct in 2016.

Mr. Adderley's educational background includes an Associate of Arts in Law and Criminal Justice from Bahamas Baptist Community College (1997-1999), a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from the College of the Bahamas in Nassau, Bahamas (2001-2005). In 2004, he was awarded a scholarship by the Organization of American States (OAS) to pursue a Master's Degree. Mr. Adderley later earned his Master of Public Policy Analysis from the University of Northern Iowa, IA, USA (2006-2008).

In addition, by consistently seeking opportunities to enhance his expertise through training programs, workshops, and seminars, Mr. Adderley has established himself as a highly knowledgeable and skilled professional in his field. He has actively pursued specialized training programs, including explosives detection, crime scene investigation, and blood pattern analysis, offered by some respected organizations like the U.S. Department of Justice, Georgia Public Safety Institute, CARICOM IMPACS and the Global Crisis Response Support Program sponsored by the United Nations. From 1993 to 2023, he consistently added to his skills bank through courses in Scenario Analysis, Knowledge Management, Border Security Management, Intelligence Operations, Counter Drug Analysis, Research Techniques, and Covert Human Intelligence Sources.

With great pride, on October 1, 2023, Mr. Dwight Adderley was promoted to the esteemed rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). In December 2023, he was officially installed as a valued member of the Senior Executive Leadership Team within the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

ACP Adderley is happily married with five loving children. He finds joy in various activities such as reading, fishing, engaging in cultural arts, and cherishing moments of fellowship.
