Mr. Theophilus Cunningham enlisted into the Royal Bahamas Police Force on December 10, 1984. He has worked in several Divisions of this noble organization including: Central Division(1984-1991), Drug Enforcement Unit, Strike Force (1991-1993) where he became a member of the Drug treaty call "Operation OPBAT", and worked closely with the Unites States of America DEA to prevent drugs trafficking in The Bahamas, Crooked Island (1993-1995), Acklins and Long Cay (Officer-In-Charge), Western Division (1995-1998), Central Detective Unit, Firearm Investigation Unit (1998-1999), where he was responsible for intelligence led investigations and special operation which resulted in him receiving the Commissioners Commendation, Eleuthera Division Officer-In-Charge (2000-2003), District Headquarters, New Providence (2003), Control Room/Mobile Division Officer-In-Charge (2003-2005), Abaco Division, Officer-In-Charge (2008), Southeastern Division Officer-In-Charge (2010-2012), Northeastern Division Officer-In-Charge (2012-2014), Uniform Operation (2014-2015) responsible for Island Wide Operations and President of the Police Disciplinary Tribunal (2015-2019).

Presently, he is the Assistant Commisioner with resposiblities for the Community Policing Services and Reserves.

ACP Cunningham obtained his education at the Our Lady's Catholic Primary School, T.G. Glover Junior High School and C.C. Sweeting Senior High School. He also attended the Bahamas Baptist Community College where he successfully completed an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration. He has been awarded a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (2009) and MBA in Public Administration (2011) from the McHari International College. He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).

He has participated in a number of courses including:


ACP Cunningham is the recipient of a number of Awards which includes: The Royal Bahamas Police Force Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, Commendation Certificate for Intelligence Led Investigations and Commendation Letter for Outstanding Performance and Leadership In Targeting Drug Peddlers and Prolific Offenders.

ACP Cunningham is a member of Our Lady's Catholic Church where he attends along with his family.
