Crime Management

Attaining a high-mantle of leadership within a disciplined yet competitive Organization is a vision many endeavor, but only few ever achieve. This admirable opportunity to flex one’s oath of service at a higher level, with the probability of leaving an indelible mark on the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, is a humbling and exhilarating simultaneous prospect. The appointment to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police and becoming a part of the Senior Executive Leadership Team of the Royal Bahamas Police Force is an accomplishment that is highly revered within the rank and file of the Organization. Assistant Commissioner Warren Johnson, who enlisted as a Police Reserve in 1988 is keenly aware and truly appreciative of this commendable opportunity that was afforded to him through his dedication to service and the grace of the Almighty God.
ACP. Johnson is the first born to his parents Hansel and Sylvia Johnson. As the eldest child, he was thrust into a role model position for his younger siblings causing him to emote care, compassion and empathy at an early age. He was born in Nassau, the Capital of The Bahamas and grew up in the Farm Road Community. Although he is a very unique individual, he takes after his late grandfather, Mr. Felstead Hutchinson, who was a giant among giants in his eyes. He spent a lot of time around him, learning life lessons that carried him throughout his personal life and illustrious career. Undoubtedly, his grandfather had a consequential impact on his character, personality, and behavior, molding
him into the well rounded leader that he is today.
ACP. Johnson was always zealous on becoming a police officer. It was his dream to carry a badge, drive a police car and catch the ‘bad guys’ as seen on television growing up. He has a strong conviction of standing in the stead for persons being taken advantage of and incapable of speaking up for themselves. Because he is venerable, he looks out for the less fortunate, people who are vulnerable, needing assistance and unable to defend themselves.
As a youth hailing from Farm Road and the inner city, he witnessed the plight of many individuals at various levels of life, yearning to enjoy a level of harmony within all communities. He reviled bullies growing up and pledged in his heart to someday serve his Country in a meaningful way to help people in his community. He has been uniquely positioned to commit all of his resources in making his childhood aspirations a reality by creating safer communities throughout The Bahamas.
Naturally, he and his beloved wife Mrs. Karin Patrice Johnson have been ardent blood donors for many years and will continue to do so for as long as they are permitted. As a close-knit union, they devoutly undertake this process every two months with the optimistic awareness that a single pint of blood can save the lives of at least three individuals. This personal mission further underscores his empathy for others and courage to assist in any way he can.
His protective spirit and sheer determination led him to officially join the Force on October 15, 1990 as a fully pledged police officer. As veteran with over 35 years of service, he exudes confidence, self-awareness and above all integrity, which has allowed him to successfully navigate his way through various policing divisions in New Providence and the Family Islands. During his career, ACP. Johnson has garnered a wealth of knowledge and experience that has allowed him to hone his investigation, management and leadership skills. He was actively posted to the following notable areas throughout the Force, and in some cases he spent multiple stints in certain areas.

His additional postings demonstrated his leadership capabilities propelling him to a higher standard, as he was effectively thrust in the divisional command post at the following areas:

Throughout his formative years, ACP. Johnson’s leadership and humanitarian efforts placed him at the center stage of a number of high-profile cases and major criminal investigations that have been memorialized in history. In 2008 while executing duties as Aide to Former Prime Minister Perry Christie, he received National Acclaim for his bravery and heroism. He was honored and
credited for saving the life of New Jersey Police Officer John Casper, who was shot in the chest during an armed robbery attempt while vacationing in The Bahamas. Throughout this harrowing incident, his training, quick thinking and ensuing actions preserved the life of Officer Casper on that fateful day.
In 1998, his sharp detective, investigative and policing skills were further demonstrated as he navigated the helm of the Enquiry Section at the Paradise Island Police Station. He captured and arrested wanted suspect Tennel Anton McIntosh for the heinous murders of American National Lori Fogleman and British National Joanna Clarke, just hours after their bodies were discovered in shallow graves at a beach on Paradise Island. ACP. Johnson’s swift response in securing the crime scenes and preserving cogent prosecutorial evidence from the suspect led to a conviction and subsequent 25 years sentence in the case of Fogleman.
His instinctive prowess as a detective, who simply enjoyed criminal investigations and solving crime continued during his tenure in the Abaco Division. He was instrumental in solving and dismantling a breaking ring that was protracted over a 2 year period wreaking havoc on factions of the Abaco Community. Frustratingly, a number of government offices, private businesses and homes were looted of goods, cash and jewelry valued in the thousands of dollars. Subsequently, ACP. Johnson received a police medal and promotion for his stellar investigative skills that brought these cases to a close.
His above and beyond efforts is undoubtedly his most distinguishable quality that sets him apart from his peers. Notably, he is a highly decorated officer who has reached extraordinary heights in his career and was awarded accordingly as follows:

His enthusiasm towards policing and strength of mind to solve crime has allowed him to succeed on many fronts in criminal investigations. Notwithstanding his cast in the least expected capacities given his tested capabilities, he continues to succeed and persevere in the face of adversity. He credits his drive and resilience to rise above the fray to the Almighty God and the tenacity to infuse himself with positive influences from his loving family and close friends.

ACP. Johnson is a dynamic leader with a passion to advance criminal investigations through the use cutting edge technology. In his quest to enhance the capabilities of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, he has undertaken to qualify himself in Drone Technology. He is an experienced and skilled investigator with the fortitude to elevate the Force to a proactive stage of policing based on his high level of training, proficiency, associations and international certifications in Drone Technology as delineated below:

ACP. Johnson’s ability to lead the Remit of Crime is based on a combination of career experiences, command postings, personal advancements and exposure to several professional police training programs at a local and international level which includes:

ACP. Johnson firmly believes that the challenges and successes he experienced throughout life has made him the leader that he is today. He became a Gazetted Police Officer in October, 2014 and was promoted to the Rank of Superintendent in January, 2017. A few years later, he advanced to the Rank of Chief Superintendent and today he is navigating his most consequential task yet, on his appointment to the position of Assistant Commissioner of Police in 2023. In his current mantle of leadership, he assumes the significant Crime Portfolio for the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. As a man of God, ACP Johnson is a strong proponent of Luke chapter 12 verse 14 which states, “to whom much is given, much will be required”. As such, he intends to lead by example and set standards as a beacon for junior officers to emulate.
ACP. Johnson is devoted to his faith and actively serves as a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. As a Licensed Pilot and Master Plumber, he engages these activities as hobbies during some of his spare time. Most importantly, he cherishes and enjoys spending time with his family above all else. He is a dutiful husband to his loving wife Karin Patrice Johnson. He is also a doting father to his five (5) beautiful children Antwanya, Sarchyme, Shawano, Dakari and Kadin; and six (6) adorable grandchildren Carter, Matai, Hailey, Aubrey, Chy and Maddox.
