David Lockhart


Chief Superintendent of Police

Mr. David Lockhart was born on the 26th August, 1967 to the late Capt. Anton and Gweneth Lockhart. He is the fourth of seven children, wanting to follow in his late father's foot steps, David joined the Royal Bahamas Police Force on the 4th December 1989. Being not only an established member of the Police Force for the past 30 years, he is also an exceptional person throughout many communities in the Bahamas, where he has functioned in many capacities. He was recently promoted to the rank Chief Superintendent of Police and currently holds the position of Director of Training at the Police Training College. During his tenure with the Force he has displayed his leadership abilities and special skills, especially in the field of Traffic Crash Reconstruction. Prior to being pointed the Director of Training, he serviced in a number of areas throughout the Force. He previous postings include: President & Prosecutor at Police Tribunal, Officer in Charge of the Exuma District, Traffic Crash Reconstructionist & Investigator at Police Traffic Division, Officer in Charge of Warrants Section and Prosecutor at the Police Prosecutions Department. He is well knowledgeable in Station Duties and has worked at a number of Divisions including, Cable Beach Division, Airport Police Station, Police Prosecution, Traffic Division, Southern Police Station and a number of short tours on various Family Islands.

While posted at the Police Traffic Division, he went above and beyond the call of duty by also serving as the Prosecutor in the night Traffic Court, after a full days work at the station. Chief Superintendent Lockhart has been deemed an expert in both the Magistrates and Supreme Courts in the Bahamas

Mr. Lockhart has obtained a vast amount of training locally and internationally. During the years of 2001- 2005 he obtained Certificates and Diplomas in Motorcycle Crash Investigation, Advanced Computerised Collision Diagramming, Pedestrian/Bicycle Crash Investigation, Human Factors in Traffic Crash Reconstruction, Computerised Collision Diagramming and Traffic Crash Reconstruction, while at the University of North Florida (IPTM); In 2008 he also received a Diploma in Crash Data Retrieval Technician and Analyst from Virginia State Police (Collision Safety Institute).

In 2001-2004 he retrieved Diplomas from Baltimore County Police Department in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (S.F.S.T) and Pulmonary Breath Testing (P.B.T), Lidar, Radar, and Speed Chronograph Operation, Advance Crash Investigations and At Scene Crash/ Traffic Homicide Investigations. Chief Superintendent Lockhart is an engaged member of the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) where he was trained in, Law Enforcement Management, Academic Criminal Justice and Forum on Model Laws & Academic Criminal Justice. Throughout the years of 1993- 2010 while at the Police Training College in the Bahamas, Mr. Lockhart received other training in System Integration, Domestic Violence Intervention, VIP Security Training, Defensive Driving, Fire Training and Junior Detective Training

In March 2017, Chief Superintendent Lockhart was awarded the Meritorious, Long Service and Good Conduct Awards. He is a loving husband and father who enjoys cooking and traveling. Mr. Lockhart also sits as a Vestry Board member and Lay Reader and chalice bearer in his beloved church of the Church of Holy Spirit located Chippingham. In December of 2020 Mr. Lockhart will be receiving his LLB Law Degree with honors form the University of Essex London.
