Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings was born on the island of New Providence, Nassau Bahamas, to the proud parents of Christopher Roscoe Kemp (deceased) and Elizabeth P. Thompson-Kemp (deceased).  She has three (3) brothers and two (2) sisters of whom she is the youngest.

The foundation for success was implemented at home and nurtured at the Bahamas Academy of Seventh-day Adventists school where she received her early education.  Her secondary education was obtained at the Government High School where she graduated in May 1986, with her High School Diploma.

Upon completion of her graduation in 1986, she attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology, with a Minor in Natural Science in May 1990. She also holds a Masters of Arts Degree in Organizational Leadership and Management with Honors from Lincoln Christian University, in Lincoln Illinois.

On October 15, 1990, she joined the Royal Bahamas Police Force and served for 34 years. She is the recipient of the Royal Bahamas Police Force Medals for Long Service and Good Conduct, Meritorious Service, the RBPF Claps for additional Meritorious Service and for Continuous Long Service and Good Conduct, the Commissioner of Police Commendation Award 2020, the Bahamas Academy of Seventh-day Adventist Star Award, Save the Fathers Ministry-Model Mother Award, Global Chaplaincy Center, Bahamas-Charity Award, Cousin McPhee AME Church Outstanding Leadership Award 2024, The 2024 Esther’s Ball Network Diamond Award as well as the 2024 Esther’s of Excellence Award.

During her career, she has worked at East Street South Police Station, Fox Hill Police Station, Police Control Room (919), Southern Police Station (Quakoo Street), Grove Police Station, the Police Academy, Central Police Station, Tourism Policing Unit and the Criminal Investigation Department. Additionally, she served as the Director of the National Crime Prevention Office, Director, of the Public Affairs & Communications Department, Officer in Charge of the Procurement Department and the Officer in Charge of the Financial Support Services Section (FSSS). Presently, she serves as the Officer in Charge of the South-central Division.

Chief Supt. Skippings has made, and continues to make significant contributions to the RBPF and by extension our country. In the organization she was instrumental in establishing, and structuring the In-Service Training School, revising the Recruit Training Curriculum and computerization of the Procurement Department. In the area of youth development, she played a significant role in structuring the 2-4-2 pre-suspension program, which seeks to assist at-risk students and implemented the concept safe Halloween which seeks to keep children safe during Halloween. In the area of community development, she initiated the concept Business Crime Watch and was instrumental in developing Grove West Homeowners Association, Yellow Elder Crime Watch and Chippingham Crime watch groups, just to name a few. Additionally, she served as the secretariat Manager to the National CCTV Steering Committee.

She is the RBPF first Civilian Lab Technician, the first Female to dress an Official Parade, the first female press officer and the first subordinate officer to hold the portfolio as press officer. Additionally, she is the first and only officer to serve a second term as press officer. She is the author of the organizations first coloring book and the first officer to hold the position as the Director of the Public Affairs & Communications Department. She was also a member of the first female rifle unit.

Chief Supt. Skippings is a member of the Maranatha Seventh-day Adventist Church, a member of the Rotary Club of Nassau and a member of the National Child Protection Council. Additionally, she serves as one of the Directors of Princess Court Ministries, an organization that promotes young girls to remain sexually pure. She is also a former PACE Board Member (Providing Access to Continued Education).

Chief Supt. Skippings enjoys working with young people and believes that the youth model what they see; therefore, leaders must demonstrate the character of Christ.

She has three children and believes that a supportive family enhances our children’s status and future. 

In her past time, she enjoys watching Football, Basketball, Softball, and Track & Field and loves to sing, cook and travel.
