Superintendent of Police

On January 12th, 1973 the proud parents Bertrum Harold and Patricia Elizabeth Sands welcomed their third son Marcus Jefferson Sands into the world on the quaint Island of Eleuthera, in the settlement of Wemyss Bight in particular. At an early age his parents instilled moral values into his life therefore joining the Royal Bahamas Police with these standards set the pace for a good career journey starting August 13th 1990 to the present.
He has attended Bennies Pre School, Albury Sayles Primary, Bahamas Academy, and Success Training College. He is the recipient of an Associate Degree in Business Administration. In striving for excellence he has also attended and completed numerous Police Courses and Seminars eg. Defensive Driving, Dangerous Drugs, and Criminal Investigations, Supervisory Computer Applications, Tactical Management of Special Events, 21st Century Leadership Seminar and Senior Officers Effective Writing and Communication. These were use to help improve his skills and goals.

During his tenure he successfully moved through the various ranks, and now he is presently at the rank of Superintendent, and the officer in charge of the South Andros Division. However, following the police code of ethics it was a privileged for him to serve in New Providence at various Stations namely: Central Police Station, Grove Police Station, Lyford Cay Police Station, Mobile Division, and Urban Renewal Division. In the Family Islands he also worked in North & Central Andros Division, Mayaguana Division, Abaco Division, and South Andros Division.
As a police officer he believe in helping to build communities and making them safer by developing partnership with the residents, business, schools, and social groups. Keeping the police code of conduct and mandate alive through positive service
Serving in the Royal Bahamas Police Force is a life rewarding experience. His career afforded him to receive the Police Medals for Good Conduct and Long Service and the Meritorious Service.
Family life is very important, and he is married to Maxcine Davis-Sands and is the father of one (1) daughter and three (3) sons.
