Chief Superintendent of Police

Mr. Oswald Brian Nixon began his journey as a member of the Royal Bahamas Police Force on October 28th 1989, where he gained exposure and experiences throughout 31 years of being an exceptional officer. Chief Superintendent Nixon is the Commanding Officer in Charge of the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) however, prior to his current position, he has functioned in many capacities as Sub and Commanding Officer in various divisions inclusive of Director of Forensic Science Section, Fox Hill Police Station , Northeastern Division and Mobile Division. While at the Forensic Science Laboratory Mr. Nixon worked in all areas, and obtained certification as a Forensic Drug Chemist and as a Forensic Toxicologist. He received both local and international training, which further deepened his knowledge and appreciation for the newest and most innovative crime solving methods and techniques. He was afforded the opportunity to receive managerial training at the Canadian Police College in Ottawa, Canada from the RCMP, Senior Police Administration Course (SPAC). Some of his most memorable achievements at the Forensic Laboratory include but are not limited to assisting in the Breath Alcohol program, the Civilianization of the lab, mentoring and training of Forensic Science staff members, encouraging continuous educational upgrades and self-improvement training courses for staff development, and encouraging conversation on the development of a State of the Art Forensic Science Laboratory.

Chief Superintendent Nixon obtained a vast amount of educational achievements and special training inclusive of Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology (Prairie View A&M University, Texas) ;United Nations Fellowship Training (Drug Abuse Training Course in Helsinki, Finland), and Court Reporting Certification (Forensic Drug Chemist), United States Department of Justice Advanced Drug Abuse Training Course (Miami Dade Medical Examiner's Office, Toxicology Section in Miami, Florida), The Robert Borkenstein Course on Alcohol and Highway Safety Indiana University, (Bloomington Indiana), Court Reporting Certification (Forensic Toxicologist), Royal Turks & Caicos Police Force, Court Reporting (Forensic Drug Chemist), SPAC Training Course, and Junior Executive Leadership Team (JELT) Seminar.
In 2009 Chief Superintendent Nixon was awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Award and later received the Meritorious Award in 2017.

As a devoted Christian and member of Saint Ambrose Anglican Church, Mr. Nixon is married to Claudette Nixon nee Williams and their union was blessed with four (4) children: Ericka, Brian Jr., Brionne and Bridette and two (2) grandchildren Gabrielle and Olivia; his hobbies includes fishing, gardening, and travelling.
