Step1
Application
All applicants are required to complete a Preliminary Recruitment Form before being eligible to write the Entrance Examination. Once the basic requirements are met, an application form will be given to the applicant.
Step2
Entrance Examination
All applicants will be required to sit an Entrance Examination if the basic academic qualification are not met. The Entrance Examination is normally held between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm at the Police Academy. All candidates will be notified of the date of the examination and are required to present a photo I. D on entering the Examination Room. Candidates will also be notified of their exam results by the appropriate authority at the Police Academy 3-4 weeks after the writing of the examination.

Step 3
Extended Interview
All candidates who are successful, will be eligible for the Extended Interview. Being a participant on the Extended Interview does not guarantee an enlistment. It is an in depth assessment exercise conducted over a two day period that includes the following;

Physical Fitness
Psychological Screening
Written Test
Individual Interview with Assessors
Short Speech and Group Discussion

Step 4
Medical Evaluation
It is essential that you be in excellent health, which would restrict your ability to safely do police work.

The Medical Evaluation is thorough and it is essential that you be in excellent health with no conditions, which would restrict your ability to safely do police work. The medical evaluation also includes a Psychological Evaluation that consists of an individual oral interview and evaluation by a psychologist on factors related to successful performance in the difficult and stressful job of Police Officer.
Step 5
Background Screening
If you meet the required standards, a thorough background investigation will be conducted by our screening and investigating team. This type of investigation will include police records, employment, criminal and courts checks, interviews with neighbours, friends, family and co-workers.

Step 6
Appointment and Confirmation
This is the final step in the hiring process. To be highly considered, you must have successfully completed all the steps in the Application and Hiring Process. A staff member of the academy will contact you to inform you if you have pass or failed.

During the application process, you will be asked to produce the following documents:

Birth Certificate
Passport and/or certificate of Bahamian citizenship
National Insurance Card
School transcripts
Do not quit your job until you would have received your appointment letter
