The Basic Requirements (Cadet Corps)


The necessary qualification for appointment to the Cadet Corps:-

You must be a Bahamian Citizen.
Have attained the age of 15 years by the date of enlistment.
Physically and mentally fit.
Five (5) B.J.C.s inclusive of Math and English with 'C' or above passes.
Have and maintain a 2.50 and above GPA
Recommended by their head teacher as having the educational potential to obtain "5" B.G.C.S.E. passes with 'C' or above especially in English Language and Mathematics
Are of good character, and having successfully passed a selection board established by the Commissioner of Police.
A copy of birth and educational certificates and a recent photograph is also required.
The applicant must have parental consent to enroll in the programme.
The programme offers free education up to and including College level, free medical attention and free uniform. Salaries are paid weekly and work a total of eighteen hours a week. The programme is not designed to cause conflict with regular school hours
Work Schedule

Cadets are required to put in a minimum of 18 hours a week. Three (3) hours a day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays a week and 9 hours on Saturdays.

This time is spent:

Preparing for B.J.C.S.E. exams
Law and Police Duties, General Studies (civics)
Visiting various Police Stations in New Providence;
Community service.
Drill,
First Aid,
Physical Exercises,
Life Saving and Swimming
Parades and Church Services
The programme will run for a period of two (2) years at a time.
