A team of officers led by Sr. Assistant Commissioner of Police Stephen Dean and Superintendent of Police Mark Barret, along with officers of the Southcentral Division, Urban Renewal Centres and and National Crime Prevention Office conducted a joint walk-about in the area of Melvern Road, Yellow Elder.

The importance of the walk was to reassure residents of the police's commitment in their community.

During the walk, the officers issued various crime prevention pamphlets and flyers relative personal and home safety, conflict resolution and neighbourhood crime watch.

The residents were also encouraged to report any and all incidents to the police.

This initiative is consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan on the Prevention and Detection of Crime.
