Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2017, Courageous officers from the Mobile Division seized a handgun and took two men into custody following a high-speed chase on Wednesday 5th July 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 1:00am, police received a report of two males in the Carmichael Road area, in a white Camry vehicle armed with firearms. An all points bulletin (APB) was immediately issued for the vehicle. A few minutes later, Mobile Division officers spotted the vehicle in the Carmichael area and signaled to the driver to stop. The driver refused and sped off that resulted in a high-speed chase through several communities in New Providence.

The chase ended when the suspect's vehicle came to a stop after it crashed near the Sir Sidney's Bridge on East Bay Street. Two male suspects excited the vehicle and opened fire on the police. Police returned fire that resulted in one of the males being shot.

The two male suspects were arrested and a handgun was recovered from the vehicle. The injured suspect is detained in hospital under heavy police guard.
