Police have launched an investigation into the latest Homicide

Detectives on the island of New Providence are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a male which occurred on Friday 23rd, July 2021.

Preliminary reports are that shortly after 10:00 p.m., police were called to a shooting incident which occurred on Montgomery Avenue, Flamingo Gardens. Officers responded and on their arrival at the scene, they found an adult male lying on the western side of the street unresponsive. He was suffering from wounds consistent with gunshots. Emergency Medical Services visited the scene and following their examination they pronounced the male lifeless.

Initial investigations reveals that the victim was walking along Montgomery Avenue. When he was approached by a lone gunman who discharged the weapon in his direction fatally wounding him. The suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. Investigations into this matter continue.

Police arrested five males for Possession of unlicensed firearms

The strategies employed by the Royal Bahamas Police Force have once again resulted in the discovery of two Unlicensed firearms and the arrests of five males in separate incidents.

In the first incident, preliminary reports are that shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Friday 24th, July 2021. Officers from the operation Unit acting on information, went to the parking lot of a business establishment situated on University Drive. While at the targeted site, the officers conducted a search of two male suspect. As a result, they retrieved a pistol from the pants of one of the males. Both males were arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter continue.

In the second incident, preliminary reports are that shortly after 1:00 a.m., on Saturday 24 July 2021. Officers from the Operations Unit executed a search warrant on a business establishment situated on Whites Addition off Kemp Road. During the search, the officers found a pistol. As a result, three males were arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter continues.
