July 12, 2021 Police are investigating a boating accident Preliminary reports are that sometime after 7:00 p.m., police received report of a boating accident which occurred in the area of Rose Island involving a 26 ft. Sea Craft and a Jet Ski. Initial investigations reveal that the Sea Craft was occupied by six people and two people were aboard the Jet Ski when both vessels collided. The male driver of the Jet Ski sustained injuries to both of his legs and his male passenger was ejected into the water. The Police Marine Department in conjunction with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force conducted a search of the area, however the male is still missing. Investigations into this matter continue. Police have launched an investigation into the latest Homicide Preliminary reports are that shortly after 10:00 p.m., police were informed of a shooting incident which occurred on Arawak Cay. On the arrival of the first responding officers, they met a male victim who was alert suffering from wounds consistent with gunshots. Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Initial investigations revealed that the victim was approached by a male, who produced a handgun and discharged the weapon in his direction. He was struck about the body several times. Investigations into this matter continue. Police update on the progress of the investigations in respect to the recent homicides The third murder that occurred in Ridgeland Park west is related to the murder that occurred in First Street, Coconut Grove last week between two rival groups. In respect to the murder at Arawak Cay last night, the quick response by the police on duty at the Cay resulted in the arrest of a male suspect and the recovery of a 9mm pistol following a chase. He is expected to be charged later in the week. We continue to investigate these matters and appeal to anyone with information to come forward and help us to bring these culprits to justice. We will seek to have all victims officially identified sometime during the week. We appeal to members of the public, who are aware of persons who are in possession of illegal firearms to call the police, so that we may take appropriate action to recover them and save lives. We have a number of suspects who will be formally charged tomorrow before the Magistrate Court.
