Police arrested a male for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm

The strategies employed by the Royal Bahamas Police Force have resulted in the removal of a firearm from the streets of Exuma and the arrest of a male on Friday 25th June 2021.

Preliminary reports are that sometime around 11:00 p.m., acting on information a team of officers proceeded to the settlement of Moss Town, Exuma. While there, they executed a search warrant on a residence. During the search officers found a pistol containing (9) nine rounds of ammunition. As a result, an adult male was arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter continue.

Police are investigating an accidental shooting incident

Police on the island of New Providence are investigating a police involved accidental shooting which occurred on Saturday 26th, June 2021.

Preliminary reports are that shortly before 8:00 p.m., officers were on routine patrols in the area of Blue Hill Road and Coconut Grove Avenue. When they observed the occupant of a silver vehicle being driven in a reckless manner. The driver was beckon to stop by the officers but sped off. A chase ensued, the vehicle eventually came to a stop at the intersection of Amos Ferguson Street and Balfour Avenue.

A male then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. He was pursued by the officers. During the pursuit one of the officers observed the suspect removed an object from his waist. The officer being in fear for his life discharged his service weapon in the direction of the suspect. The suspect was caught unharmed, and a pistol was recovered.

Moments later, an adult female who was on the outside of her residence during the incident, complained of receiving injuries consistent with gunshot wounds to her legs. She was transported to the hospital by Emergency Medical Services. Her condition is listed as stable with nonlife threatening injuries. Investigation into this matter continue.
