Police are investigating the latest Homicide

An investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of a male which occurred on Monday 14th, June 2021.

Preliminary reports are that sometime before 10:00 a.m. police were alerted to a shooting incident which occurred on Polhemus and Nassau Street. The officers responded and on their arrival they were directed to a gray Honda Civic that was parked in an open lot.

The officers inspected the vehicle and found a male slumped in the driver seat with injuries consistent with gunshots. Emergency Medical service were summoned and on completion of their examination, the body was pronounced lifeless.

Initial investigations reveal that the victim was returning home, when a small dark vehicle approached his vehicle. An occupant exited and discharged a firearm in his direction, fatally wounding him. Investigations into this matter continue.

The Fire Department were called in to extinguish a blaze at Man Power Scrap Metal facility

Preliminary reports are that shortly before 8:00 p.m., on Monday 14th, June 2021, the Fire Department were alerted to a fire that started in the area of the New Providence Land fill. The units responded and on their arrival they discovered that a portion of Man Power Scrap Metal facility was engulfed in flames. The officers were not able to deploy their appliances to fight the fire, due to where it was located. An assessment of the fire was conducted along with personnel from the heavy equipment operators. With the assistant of the operator it was decided to create a containment barrier around the fire to prevent it from spreading. This would also allow the appliance to the flames. The operation is ongoing.

Police arrested an adult male for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition

The strategies employed by the Royal Bahamas Police Force have again resulted in the removal of an unlicensed firearm from the street of New Providence on Monday 14th, June 2021.

Preliminary reports are shortly after 9:00 p.m., officers from the Operations Unit while at the intersection of Dorsette and Adderley Street, Fox Hill, observed the occupant of a vehicle who aroused their suspicion. The vehicle was stopped and a field search was conducted. As a result, the officers found a pistol containing 14 unfired rounds of ammunition. A male was arrested and taken into custody. Investigation into this matter continue.
