Police arrested three males for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The strategies employed by the Royal Bahamas Police Force resulted in the removal of an unlicensed firearm from the streets of New Providence on Tuesday 8th, June 2021.

Preliminary reports are that shortly after 12:00 noon, officers from the Operations Unit were in the area of Sunrise Road, Gamble Heights. When they observed the occupants of white Honda Civic who aroused their suspicion. The vehicle was beckoned to a stop, three males exited. The officers then conducted a field search, this resulted in the discovery of a pistol and (7) seven rounds of unfired ammunition. The three suspects were arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter continue.

Police are investigating a shooting incident.

Police on the island of New Providence are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday 8th, June 2021 and resulted in two males being detained in hospital.

Preliminary reports are that shortly after 9:00 p.m., a group of people were attending a social gathering on Deans Lane off Nassau Street. When a small vehicle drove up to the event, an occupant then discharged several shots into the gathering. Moments later, two adult males discovered that they were wounded as a result. The victims were transported to the hospital via Emergency Medical Services where they are listed in stable condition. Investigations into this matter continue.
