POLICE RECOVERED THREE UNLICENSED FIREARMS ONE MALE ARRESTED

The proactive strategies employed by the Royal Bahamas Police Force have resulted in the discovery and removal of three unlicensed firearms from the streets of New Providence in separate incidents on Friday 16th, April 2021.

In the first incident preliminary reports are that shortly before 11:00 a.m., officers from the Carmichael Road Police Station acting on intelligence proceeded to an area near the Bonefish Pond located off Cowpen Road. While there, they conducted a search of the targeted area. As a result they found a 9mm pistol and a .380 pistol. No arrest was made during this discovery. Investigations into this matter continues.

In the second incident preliminary reports are that shortly before 10:00 p.m., police were alerted to gunshots via Shot Spotter in the area of Armbrister Street, Fox Hill. However, an off duty police officer who was in the area at the time, saw the male suspect. He tactfully approached and arrested him. A search was conducted and the officer found a 9mm pistol containing four (4) unfired rounds of ammunition. The suspect was taken into custody, investigations into this matter continue.
