POLICE ARRESTED TWO MALE SUSPECTS FOR POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARMS

The proactive initiatives employed by the Royal Bahamas Police Force have resulted in the arrest of two adult males for possession of unlicensed firearms on Wednesday 7th, April 2021.

In the first incident, preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 1:00 p.m., acting on information officer from the Operation Unit went to Brougham Street. On arrival to the targeted site, they met a male fitting the description. A field search was conducted which resulted in the discovery of a grassy substance suspected to be marijuana and a black .38 revolver. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter continues.

In the second incident, preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 8:00 p.m., officers from the Operations Unit responded to a Shot Spotter alert on Bowe Avenue, Montel Heights. On their arrival at the scene, the officers were directed to the location of the suspect. A field search was conducted, this resulted in the discovery of a army green rifle. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this incident continue

POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF TEENS INGESTING SUSPECTED MARIJUANA INFUSED COOKIES

The police on the island of Eleuthera have launched an investigation into reports made on Wednesday 7th, April 2021 of several incidents of teens ingesting suspected marijuana infused cookies.

Preliminary facts are that between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., the parents of three separate teens reported to the Rock Sound Police Station that their child complained of being disoriented after consuming cookies suspected to be infused with marijuana. The teens were taken to the local clinic and treated. They are presently in stable condition.

When questioned, the teens stated that they all received the cookies from a friend who had the items shipped via a mail boat from New Providence. Investigators are following significant leads into this matter.

Parents and guardians are reminded to have a conversation with their children about the trend of children and teens being targeted with the use of marijuana infused cookies, candies and brownies. Particular attention should be paid to the packaging of treats purchased for consumption, as they may look similar to product from reputable treat companies
