TWO MALES ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARMS
Police on the island of New Providence have arrested two males for possession of unlicensed firearms on Wednesday 24th, February 2021.

Preliminary reports are that shortly before 11:00 a.m., while conducting routine patrols on Augusta Street, Bain Town, officers from the Operations Unit noticed two male occupants of a green Honda CRV who aroused their suspicion. The vehicle was beckoned to stop, however, the driver sped off and a chase ensued. The chase ended with the vehicle coming to a stop further along Augusta Street and the occupants fled. The officers pursued the suspects and captured them. A field search was conducted and as a result, officers found a black high powered assault rifle containing 18 unfired rounds of ammunition in the vehicle and a black pistol in the jacket of one of the suspects. Both suspects were arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter continue.
