Police arrested three male suspects after the discovery of a quantity of Dangerous Drugs

In the first incident, preliminary reports are that sometime around after 1:30 p.m., on Monday, 22nd November 2021. Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on information went to an abandoned building located on Bishop Way. While there they conducted a search, during which, one of the officers found a concealed bucket. On opening the bucket, it was found to contain five clear plastic wrap; each containing a quantity of suspected marijuana. The suspected drugs weighed 5 lbs. and has an estimated street value of $5000. There was no arrest made during this incident. However, investigations into this matter continue.

In the second incident, preliminary reports are that shortly after 4:00 p.m., on Monday, 22nd November 2021. Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, while in the area of the Airport Industrial Park, observed the occupants of a white G35 Infinity vehicle who aroused their suspicion. The vehicle was brought to a stop and a field search was conducted. While doing so, an officer found two gift packages. An inspection of the packages revealed that they both contained clear plastic wraps of suspected hydroponic marijuana. As a result, three male suspects were arrested and taken into custody in connection with this incident. The weight of the suspected drugs is 2 lbs., with an estimated street value of $10,000. Investigations into this matter continue.

Police arrested 32 people for suspected Human Smuggling

Preliminary reports are that shortly after 8:00 p.m., on Monday, 22nd November 2021 Police on the island of New Providence were alerted to a suspected human smuggling operation in progress at the rear of a lodging located on West Bay Street. On the arrival of the first responding officers, they observed five vessels at the docking. On seeing the officers, two of the boat operators cast off and made good their escape by sea. The remaining persons fled on foot into the surrounding area. The officers were successful in capturing 32 people of various nationalities. They include 7 Bahamian, 9 Cuban, 8 Colombians, 2 Romanians, and 6 Jamaicans. They were all arrested for Human Smuggling and other related offenses. Investigation into this matter continues.

Police advisory to holders of Licensed Firearm

The Firearms Licensing Authority wishes to remind the holders of licensed firearms that the 2022 licensing period commences on 1st of November 2021. The fee for shotguns is $150 and $300 for rifles. Licensed holders are also reminded that a late fee of $50 begins on 15th January 2022.
