Police have launched an investigation into two recent homicide

Police on the island of New Providence are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of two males which occurred on Friday 29th October 2021.

Preliminary reports are that shortly after 7:00 p.m., police received reports of a shooting incident that occurred on Prison Lane, Fort Fincastle. Officers were dispatched and on the arrival of the first responders, they found three males on the porch of a residence suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the males was transported to the hospital via a private vehicle. He is listed in stable condition

Emergency Medical services visited the scene and following their assessment two of the male were pronounced lifeless. Initial investigations revealed that a group of males were gathered on the porched, when they were approached by two armed men who discharges their weapons in the direction of the group, hitting three of them. The suspects fled the scene on foot. This matter remains under active investigation.

Police are investigating a shooting incident

Preliminary reports are that sometime after 9:00 p.m., police were alerted to a shooting incident that occurred on Carmichael Road. Officers responded and on their arrival, they found an adult male sitting in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. The victim was transported to the hospital via Emergency Medical Services. His condition is listed as critical.

Initial investigations revealed that the victim was seated in his vehicle outside a business establishment when a male approached him and discharged a weapon in his direction hitting him. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction. Investigations into this matter continue.

Police advisory to holders of Licensed Firearm

The Firearms Licensing Authority wishes to remind the holders of licensed firearms that the 2022 licensing period commences on the 1st of November 2021. The fee for shotguns is $150 and $300 for rifles. Licensed holders are also reminded that a late fee of $50 begins on 15th January 2022.
