Police are investigating a shooting incident

Detectives on the island of New Providence are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Friday 22nd, October 2021.

Preliminary reports are that shortly after 11:00 p.m., while on patrol in the area of Market and Hay Street a Mobile Unit was stopped by occupants of a vehicle. An adult male presented himself with gunshot wounds to his right hand. The victim was escorted to the hospital where he was treated and is now listed in stable condition.

Initial investigations revealed that the victim was at home on Faith Avenue when the driver of a small vehicle approached his residence. An occupant discharged a weapon in his direction hitting him before fleeing the scene. This matter remains under active investigation.

Police arrested three male suspects for possession of Firearm and Ammunition

In the first incident, preliminary reports are that sometime around 7:00 a.m., on Friday 22nd October 2021. Acting on information officers from the Operations Unit executed a search warrant on a residence situated on Butler Street, Nassau Village. During the search, one of the officers found a pistol. As a result, an adult male was arrested and taken into custody. Investigation into this matter continues.

In the second incident, preliminary reports are that shortly after 4:00 p.m., on Friday 22nd October 2021. Officers from the Operations Unit were on mobile patrol on Cedar Way, Yellow Elder Garden. When they observed an adult male near an abandoned building acting in a suspicious manner. The officers approached the suspect and conducted a field search. During the search, one of the officers found a pistol with an extended clip containing (15) unfired rounds of ammunition, (9) unfired .40 rounds of ammunition and (10) unfired rounds of .45 ammunition separately packaged. The officers also found a quantity of suspected marijuana and cocaine. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter continue.

Police unfoiled an online Fraud Ring, two males and a female were arrested

Preliminary information is that on Thursday 21 October 2021, it was brought to the attention of the Financial Crimes Investigations Branch that a credit card fraud scam was being perpetrated on a business establishment located on Carmichael Road. The suspects placed several online orders with the establishment. When they presented themselves to collect the items, it was then discovered that the credit cards and identifications were fraudulent. As a result, police arrested and took into custody two males and a female in connection with these incidents. Investigations into these matters continue.

Police advisory to holders of Licensed Firearm

The Firearms Licensing Authority wishes to remind the holders of licensed firearms that the 2022 licensing period commences on 1st, of November 2021. The fee for shotguns is $150 and $300 for rifles. Licensed holders are also reminded that a late fee of $50 begins on 15th, January 2022.
