Police are investigating two shooting incidents

Police on the island of New Providence have commenced investigations into two shooting incidents that occurred on Saturday 16 October 2021.

In the first incident, preliminary reports are that shortly before 2:00 p.m., police received information of a shooting incident that occurred on Emmanuel Way off Soldier Road. A female was sitting in a parked vehicle when she heard a loud sound similar to that of gunshots. She later realized that she was shot in the neck. The victim was transported to the hospital via a private vehicle, where she was treated and later discharged. This incident remains under active investigation.

In the second incident, preliminary reports are that shortly before 7:00 p.m., police were informed that a male was shot while on Woods Ally off Market Street. He was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle, where he is listed in stable condition. Initial investigations revealed that the victim was approached by the occupants of a small Japanese vehicle. One of them discharged a firearm in his direction and shot him in the left hand. This matter remains under active investigation.
