Police discovers a large quantity of suspected Dangerous Drugs

Preliminary report is that on Thursday 30th, September 2021 during the early morning hours officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit received information about an Omni bus transporting what is believed to be suspected marijuana along Carmichael Road. Sometime around 3:30 a.m., the officers while in the area of Carmichael Road west, observed a bus fitting the description given.

The officers beckoned the bus to stop, the driver on seeing the police sped off in an eastern direction. A chase ensued and other units were alerted. During the pursuit the driver turned south onto Boat Swain Hill Street off Carmichael Road. An Operations Unit also joined in the chase.

They then turned east onto a dirt road off Boat Swain Hill Street. Both units continued the chase. It was at this juncture the passengers on the bus began throwing bags from the vehicle onto the dirt road, in an attempt to evade the police.

The Operations Unit collected the bags from the road, while the Drug Enforcement Unit continued the pursuit. Moments later, the chase ended about a mile into the dirt road where the driver was forced to a stop after hitting a barrier. The three male suspects made good their escape into the nearby bushes.

An inspection of the Omni bus revealed a large number of crocus bags with what is believed to be marijuana. Officers collected one hundred bags and transported the suspected drugs and vehicle to the Drug Enforcement compound. The total weight of the drugs is 3053 lbs. It has an estimated street value of $3,053,000. This matter remains under active investigation.
