Police have launched an investigation into a recent homicide

Detectives on the island of New Providence are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an adult male which occurred on Sunday 19th, September 2021.

Preliminary reports are that sometime around 2:40 p.m., police received information of a shooting incident that occurred on Milton Street. Officers were dispatched and on the arrival of the First Responding Officers. They were directed to a black Nissan March that was parked on the southern side of the street. The vehicle was extensively damaged.

An inspection of the vehicle revealed a dark male slumped over the driver’s seat with multiple wounds consistent with gunshots. Emergency Medical Services visited the scene and following their assessment of the victim, he was pronounced lifeless. Investigations into this matter continue.

Police arrested two male suspects for possession of an unlicensed firearm

The strategic crime fighting initiatives employed by the Royal Bahamas Police Force have again resulted in the removal of an unlicensed firearm from the streets of New Providence on Sunday 19th, September 2021.

Preliminary reports are that shortly after 2:00 p.m., officers from the Operations Unit, were on routine patrols along Yamacraw Hill Road, when they observed two male occupants of a motorcycle. The operator of the cycle, on seeing the police made a U-turn. The officers became suspicious and gave chase. They were successful in capturing the suspects on Swaziland Crest, Elizabeth Estates. A field search was conducted, during which a 9mm pistol containing (10) ten unfired rounds of ammunition was discovered. Both suspects were arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter continue.
