Police are investigating a suspected drowning

Preliminary reports are that shortly before 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday 15th September 2021, a group of males went to the South Beach canals for a swim. While there, one of the males submerged into the water and did not resurface. Officers from the East Street South Police Station and divers from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force conducted a search of the canal where the body was last seen. During the search, the body was fished out of the water unresponsive. Medical assistance was rendered; however, the male was pronounced lifeless. Police will await an autopsy report to determine the cause of death. Investigation into this matter continues.
