POLICE ARRESTED FIVE MALES FOR POSSESSION OF DANGEROUS DRUGS
The crime fighting initiatives employed by the Royal Bahamas Police Force have resulted in the arrest of five males for possession of dangerous drugs on Tuesday 19th, January 2021.

In the first incident, preliminary reports states that shortly after 12:00 p.m., while on mobile patrol on Ole Boat Ally, officers from the Operations Unit observed a male who aroused their suspicion. When the attention of the suspect was drawn to the officers, he then fled on foot. One of the officers gave chase and watched as the suspect threw a bag on the roof of an abandon building. He was later caught and taken to the abandon building. The bag was retrieved, an inspection revealed a quantity of suspected marijuana. The male was arrested and taken into custody for possession of dangerous drugs with the intent to supply. Investigations into this matter continue.

In a second incident, according to reports shortly after 4:00 p.m., officers from the Operations Unit were on patrol in the area of Lyon Road off Shirley Street, when they came across a male who aroused their suspicion. The suspect was stopped, a field search was then conducted. The officers found a quantity of suspected marijuana in the suspect's trousers. He was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs with the intent to supply. Investigation into this matter continue.

In a third incident, preliminary reports states that sometime after 5:00 p.m. while patrolling Williams Drive off Cowpen Road. Officers from the Operations Unit came across a group of males standing outside a wooden shack acting in a suspicious manner. The officers deployed the police search dog, moments later the dog alerted the handler to a large black garbage bag. On inspecting the bag, officers found a quantity of suspected marijuana. The officers also found a large sum of cash that could not be satisfactory accounted for. Six males were arrested in connection with this incident for being in possession of dangerous drug with the intent to supply and possession of the proceeds of crime.

In a fourth incident, preliminary reports indicate that sometime after 1:00 p.m. a joint operation consisting of officers from the Drug Enforcement, K9 Unit, and the Financial Investigations branch, executed a search warrant on a residence situated on Tundra Close. While searching a shed on the property, the canine alerted its handler. The officer found a brown box. On examining the content, a brown taped package was found. It contained a grassy substance suspected to be marijuana. A male suspect was arrested in connection with this matter, investigations continue.

POLICE ARRESTED A MALE FOR POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARM AND AMMUNITION
The crime fighting initiatives employed by the Royal Bahamas Police Force have resulted in the arrest of a male for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Wednesday 20th, January 2021.

Preliminary reports are that sometime around 3:00 a.m., officers from the Operations Unit executed a search warrant on a residence located Sea Link Avenue off Baillou Hill Road, in the presence of a male occupant. During the search, officers found a .22 Smith and Wesson Springfield Rifle, (1) one magazine, (111) one hundred eleven .22 rounds of unfired ammunitions, (2) two Maverick Shotguns with (83) shotgun shells. The male was arrested and taken into custody for being in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Investigations into this matter continue.
