Mario Murphy


Assistant Superintendent of Police

Mr. Mario Cornelius Murphy was born April 7th 1970 in New Providence. After graduating C.C Sweeting School he enlisted in the Royal Bahamas Police Force in October 1989. He was assigned to Central Police Station, where he was later transferred to the North Andros Division and then on to Drug Enforcement Unit where he served for eleven years as the Drug Interdiction Officer; and the Liaison Officer of the Joint International Intelligence Center (JICC), working in partnership with local and international law enforcement allies.

In 2003, Mr. Murphy was transferred to the Police Training Academy Detective Training School as a Classroom Instructor. In 2007, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was subsequently assigned the portfolio of Manager of the Detective Training School. Where he was successful in the facilitation of many professional development courses for Officers of The Royal Bahamas Police Force, and other law enforcement agencies both locally and provincially.

In November 2011, Mr. Murphy was transferred to the Abaco Division, in the Northern Bahamas District, where he initially held the position of a Supervisor on the Guard. That following year he was promoted to the rank of Inspector where he was assigned the position of the Administrative Inspector and subsequently appointed the position of Officer in Charge of the Traffic Management Division.

In 2019, he was transferred and appointed the position of Officer in Charge of the Mayaguana Division; where he was consequently promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent in June 2020.

Mr. Murphy graduated from the then College of The Bahamas in 1996 with an Associate Degree in Law and Criminal Justice. He participated in a plethora of professional development courses both local and international in the areas of Investigations Techniques, Dangerous Drugs Interdiction, Intelligence Gathering, Fraud, Terrorism, Leadership, and Management. He is also the recipient of the Royal Bahamas Force's medal for Meritorious and Long Service & Good Conduct.

Mr. Murphy is married to Gena G. Murphy and is the father of three children, Keisha, Mario Jr. and Destiny.
