Superintendent of Police
My name is Alvin A. Albury. I was born on the island of Nassau, Bahamas to theparentage of Mr. Sidney and Mrs. Pearline Albury. I am married and blessed with three (3) daughters. I am an active member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Cathedral, and hold the post as Senior Deacon. I am also a thirty year veteran of the Royal Bahamas Police
Force.
I attended William Sayles Primary, T.G. Glover Junior High and C.C. Sweeting Senior High Schools. I furthered my education at the Penn Foster Trade School, formally Thompson Trade School, Scranton, Pennsylvania and Bahamas Technical & Vocational Institute, where I completed my Single Phase Electrical Studies. I worked several jobs within the community and then, enlisted in the Royal Bahamas Police Force to pursue my career in Law Enforcement. I began my career as a Police Officer in 1995 and was transferred to various division throughout the Police Force, namely:
Central Division: 1995 – 1996; Eleuthera: 1996 – 1998; Cable Beach Division: 1998 – 1999; Communication Branch: 1999 – 2017; Elizabeth Estates Police Station: 2017 – 2018; Communication Branch: 2018 – Present.
I have excelled through the ranks of policing and was promoted to the rank of
Superintendent in 2023. I recently took over the command of Police Communications on 22 nd August, 2024 with the following responsibilities:
- The communication equipment in the Police Control Room
- The day-to-day upkeep of the Government’s multi-million dollar Astro Digital P-25
Trunking System;
- All emergency Generation within New Providence and the Family Islands
- The Telephone Network and Audio Equipment in all Police Stations within the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
I have received specialist training along with certificates in the following courses:
- Diploma from Thompson Education Direct in Diesel Mechanics/Heavy Truck
Maintenance;
- Certificate from Caterpillar in Electrical Diesel Generator Fundamentals;
- Certificate of Completion in SDMO Generators General Repair from Bobcat
Bahamas;
- Completion of Training Course on the Operation and Maintenance of SDMO
Generator Sets;
- Certification Course from HPC Terminals Services;
- Certification Course in Electrical Fundamentals;
- Certificate of Achievement from Motorola;
- Completed Motorola Training Program on the XTS2250/XTL5000 CPS Programming;
- Completed Motorola Training Program;
- Astro Master Site;
- License from PUC – now URCA;
- ASTRO MCC 7500 7.8 Console Course at Motorola;
- Passed Single Phase Electrical Course Exams at BTVI.
My success and achievements are centered on my life’s focus, which is based according to Proverbs Chapter 3:5-6: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and
he shall direct thy paths”.
