NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE LATEST SHOOTING INCIDENT

Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the capital overnight, leaving a 30-yearold male injured and hospitalized.

On Monday, 28th April 2025, shortly before 9:00 p.m., ShotSpotter technology alerted police to gunshots in the area of Peter Street. Upon the officer's arrival at the scene, it was reported that two males were outside of a residence when a black Nissan March pulled up, the occupants of the vehicle exited and discharged gunshots in their direction, before leaving the area. As a result, one of the males sustained gunshot injuries about the body.

He was transported to the hospital by EMS, where his condition was last listed as stable but critical.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ALLEGED SUICIDE

Police are investigating an alleged suicide of a 47-year-old male that took place at a residence in Western New Providence on Monday, 28th April, 2025. According to initial reports, shortly after 8:00 p.m., Police were alerted by a concern citizen who requested a welfare check of a neighbor. As a result, officers responded and while checking the residence they discovered the individual inside hanging in a bathroom. His Majesty’s Coroner and other medical personnel responded on scene and pronounced the male deceased.

The investigation continues.

ELEUTHERA

INCIDENT AT SEA- MISSING MEN RESCUED

Police were alerted of the incident on Monday 28th April 2025, shortly after 8:00 p.m. Preliminary reports indicate that three men went missing while on a fishing expedition leaving from Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera on board a 21ft. blue and white Abaco Skiff enroute to New Providence. They reportedly experience engine problems during the journey and contacted relatives back on Eleuthera for assistance.

As a result, the Royal Bahamas Defense Force along with assistance from a volunteer located the vessel and missing men in good health just off New Providence and brought them safely to Potter’s Cay Dock.
