NEW PROVIDENCE

ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT SHOT AND ARRESTED AFTER CHASE

Police are investigating an armed robbery incident that occurred on Saturday, 26th April, 2025, that led to the shooting and arrest of a 31-year-old male.

Initial reports indicate that shortly after midnight, officers from Operation Black Scorpion responded to a report of an alleged armed robbery at an establishment on Nassau Street. While patrolling Boyd Road, they pursued a grey vehicle connected to the incident. During the pursuit, the suspects discharged gunshots in the direction of the officers, who returned fire. Consequently, one of the male suspects with an apparent gunshot wound was later found on Pitt Road, off Boyd Road. He was arrested and transported to the hospital for medical attention. Further, police located and impounded the grey Suzuki Swift vehicle for evidential purposes. The investigation continues.

Operation Black Scorpion is a joint effort involving officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force.

RECOVERED & STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT

Recovered

The following vehicles were recovered on Friday, 25th April, 2025:

  1. A black Honda Fit – recovered in Domingo Heights. It was reported on Friday, 25th April, 2025, from Cox Way.
  2. A blue 2012 Nissan Cube – recovered on Rupert Dean Lane. It was reported stolen on Thursday, 24th April, 2025.
Stolen

Police seek the public’s assistance in locating the following vehicle that was reported stolen on Friday, 25th April, 2025:

  1. A burgundy Nissan Cube L/P #AY1967 – stolen from Amnerstia Avenue.

POLICE INVOLVED SHOOTING

Police are investigating an incident that occurred on Saturday, 26th April, 2025, that led to the shooting and arrest of a 30-year-old male.

According to preliminary reports shortly before 9:45 a.m., officers responded to a dispute on Seymour Street, Yellow Elder Gardens, involving two males. Upon the officers’ arrival, one of the individuals fled on foot. A brief pursuit ensued, during which the male brandished a sharp object and confronted an officer, resulting in the officer sustaining a stab wound and injuries to his right hand. The male was subsequently shot and arrested.

The suspect was transported to the hospital to seek medical attention. Investigations are ongoing.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

GRAND BAHAMA: FIREARM CONFISCATED- MAN ARRESTED

Police in Grand Bahama confiscated a firearm and arrested an adult male on Saturday, 26th April, 2025, after 1:00 a.m.

According to preliminary reports, officers from Rapid Response conducted a routine stop-and search of a motorist while on Dominica Avenue and Swordfish Street. A firearm containing ammunition was found, resulting in the arrest of the sole occupant, a 44-year-old man. Investigations are ongoing.
