NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE CONFISCATE FIREARM

On Tuesday, 22nd April 2025, officers attached to Operation Black Scorpion confiscated a firearm and a quantity of ammunition in the area of Alexandria Blvd.

Initial reports revealed that shortly before 8:30 p.m., while acting on information, officers proceeded to a park on Alexandria Blvd, where they observed two males acting suspiciously. Upon seeing the officers, both males fled from the area, but one of the males dropped a jacket. Officers searched the jacket and confiscated a firearm and a quantity of ammunition. No arrests were made during this incident. The investigation continues.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERIES

In the first incident, police launched an investigation into an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday, 22nd April 2025, shortly after 8:00 p.m. at a financial institution on John F. Kennedy Drive.

According to the preliminary report, as the victim was performing a transaction, he was confronted by two unknown males, both armed with firearms, who robbed him of cash and other personal items. The culprits then made good their escape in an unknown direction. The investigation continues.

In the second incident, police are actively investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Wednesday, 23rd April 2025, shortly after 1:00 a.m. at a residence on Fire Trail Road.

According to the preliminary report, as two females arrived at their rental residence on Fire Trail Road, they were accosted by two unknown males, one of them armed, who approached their vehicle. The culprits robbed them of their rental 2015 Silver Nissan Cube L/P # SN7234 and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

In response, shortly thereafter, officers from the Southwestern Division recovered the vehicle in the Gamble Heights area. The investigation continues.

ATTEMPTED SUICIDE

Police on the island of Grand Bahama are investigating an alleged suicide attempt of a 25-year-old male that occurred at a residence in Eight Mile Rock on Tuesday, 22nd April, 2025.

According to the initial report, shortly before 11:00 p.m., police were alerted of the incident and proceeded to a residence on Martin Close. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male lying in a bedroom, who reportedly ingested some over-the-counter drugs and other substances in an attempt to take his life. Initially, the victim refused medical attention; however, he was eventually transported to the hospital for medical attention and further evaluation. His condition was last listed as stable.

The investigation continues.

STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT

Police in New Providence are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the mentioned vehicle below that was reported stolen.

  1. A grey Suzuki Swift L/P # AQ4106: Stolen from Western Esplanade off West Bay Street between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 22nd April, 2025.

  • Never flash large amounts of money or other valuables – Robbers are often tempted by money, jewelry, clothing, and electronics.
  • Do not use ATMS at night – Robbers often wait for individuals to withdraw or make a cash deposit. Never approach an ATM if you are uneasy about people nearby.
  • Use well-lit public transportation stops- Avoid dark spots or areas with low visibility.

POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL SHOOTING INCIDENT

Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred at a residence on Wednesday, 23rd April, 2025 that claimed the life of a 22-year-old male.

The initial report indicates that, shortly before 6:00 a.m., police were alerted to a shooting incident on Yamacraw Hill Road. Officers visited the scene, and information received was that the victim was sitting in a car in front of a residence when a white Japanese-model vehicle pulled up and one of the males exited. This male then produced a firearm and after a small dialogue, discharged shots in the direction of the victim. As a result, the victim was transported to the hospital by EMS for medical attention. However, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
