NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL SHOOTING INCIDENT

Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Arawak Cay on Monday, 21st April, 2025, that has resulted in an adult male dead and another in hospital requiring medical attention.

The initial report indicates that, shortly before 11:00 p.m., police were alerted to a shooting incident at Arawak Cay. Officers visited the scene, and information received is that two men got into an altercation, when one of the men produced a firearm and discharged shots in the direction of the victim, fatally wounding him. A second male also sustained gunshot injuries to the upper body during this incident and was transported to the hospital by private vehicle for medical attention. His condition was last listed as serious but stable.

Furthermore, it is reported that the suspect fled the scene through the western entrance of Arawak Cay. He is described as having dark skin, dreadlocks, and wearing a red shirt at the time of the incident.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Monday, 21st April 2025, shortly after 5:00 a.m. at a residence in Pinewood Gardens.

According to the preliminary report, a female arrived at her residence on Sequoia Street and fell asleep inside her vehicle. A short time later, a male approached the vehicle and shined a flashlight in her face. The male suspect then produced a firearm and robbed her of cash and a cellphone. He then made good his escape in an unknown direction.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ATTEMPTED SUICIDE

Police in the capital are investigating an alleged suicide attempt of a 19-year-old female who was found in bushes in the area of Bethel Avenue on Monday, 21st April, 2025.

According to initial reports, shortly after 2:30 p.m., Police acting on information discovered the individual who was in bushes with visible injuries about the body. She was unable to speak and was transported to the hospital for medical attention and further evaluation. Her condition is unknown at this time as the investigation continues.

STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT

Police in New Providence are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the following vehicle that was reported stolen.

  1. A purple 2009 Toyota Passo l/p# AQ7706, stolen from Shell Service Station, Thompson Blvd. between Sunday, 20 April 2025 at 10:00 p.m. and Monday, 21st April 2025 at 1:00a.m.
