NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL SHOOTING INCIDENT

Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Thursday, 17th April, 2025, resulting in the death of one man and injuries to another.

Sometime around 10:00 p.m., officers were alerted by ShotSpotter Technology to gunfire on Dorsette Street, Fox Hill. Upon arrival at a business establishment, they discovered an unresponsive adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. In addition, a second adult male who was injured by gunshots during this incident was transported to the hospital by ambulance for medical attention.

According to preliminary reports, the victim was involved in a verbal argument with another male who produced a firearm and fired multiple shots in his direction, fatally wounding him.

POLICE INVESTIGATE TWO ARMED ROBBERIES

Police are investigating two alleged armed robbery incidents that occurred in the capital on Thursday, 17th April, 2025.

Incident 1

Initial reports indicate that shortly after 8:00 p.m., four males allegedly confronted the victim while he was seated inside a white Nissan Note on McQuay Street off Nassau Street. One of the suspects who was armed along with the other male suspects physically attacked the victim and stole his vehicle. The victim fled from the scene and reported the incident to police.

The police responded and recovered the vehicle abandoned on Quarry Mission Road off Nassau Street. No arrests were made. The investigation continues.

Incident 2

Preliminary reports indicate that sometime around 9:30 p.m., two unknown males, one armed with a firearm, approached the occupants of a grey 2013 KIA Rio L/P #AJ9604, while parked near a business on West Bay Street. The victims were allegedly robbed of their personal belongings, and the vehicle was stolen during this incident. The culprits left the scene traveling east on West Bay Street, followed by a black Japanese-model car driven by an accomplice.

ILLEGAL DRUGS AND FIREARM ARRESTS- OPERATION BLACK SCORPOIN

On Thursday, 17th April, 2025, officers from Operation Black Scorpion made two arrests in separate incidents involving suspected drugs and an unlicensed firearm.

Incident 1

According to preliminary reports, around 8:30 p.m., officers conducted a routine stop-and-search of a motorist while on St. Luke Avenue off Buttonwood Avenue. During the search, a quantity of suspected marijuana was found. As a result, a 29-year-old male, the sole occupant, was arrested. The weight and valued of the suspected marijuana is unknown at this time.

Incident 2

According to initial reports, around 11:30 p.m., officers acting on information searched a vehicle on Palm Beach Street. During the search, a firearm was discovered, resulting in the arrest of the 45- year-old male driver.

Operation Black Scorpion is a collaborative effort involving officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force.

TWO PERSONS ARRESTED-FIREARM POSSESSION

On Thursday, 17th April, 2025, police seized a firearm and arrested two individuals at a home on Quakoo Street.

Preliminary reports indicate that sometime around 6:30 p.m., officers executed a search warrant and discovered a firearm containing ammunition. As a result, a 39-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested. Investigations are ongoing into this matter.

POLICE INVESTIGATE SUDDEN DEATH REPORT

On Friday, 18th April, 2025, shortly after 2:00 p.m., police responded to a private marina after receiving a report that a Caucasian female had collapsed and was unresponsive. Emergency medical personnel attended to her but were unsuccessful in reviving her.

Initial reports indicate that the deceased sought medical assistance and was released yesterday from a local hospital.
