NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL SHOOTING

Police are actively investigating a shooting incident that resulted in the death of a male on Friday, 11th April 2025.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m., ShotSpotter Technology detected gunfire on Peter Street off East Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male with apparent gunshot injuries in the rear seat of a vehicle. As a result, Emergency Medical Services visited the scene, examined the victim but did not find any vital signs of life.

FIREARMS RECOVERED IN SEPARATE INCIDENTS

Law enforcement officers from Operation Black Scorpion confiscated two firearms in separate incidents in New Providence.

Incident

On Thursday, 10th April 2025, around 10:00 p.m., officers conducted a search in the area of Resurrection Drive and Air Dale Drive based on received information. During the search, a firearm containing ammunition was discovered. No arrests were made.

Incident

On Friday, 11th April 2025, around 12:30 a.m., officers acting on information conducted a search at a park in Pinewood Gardens. A firearm was recovered. No arrests were made.

Investigations are ongoing into these matters.

Black Scorpion is a collaborative effort operation involving the police and Royal Bahamas Defense Force officers.

MALE ARRESTED FOLLOWING ILLEGAL DRUGS SEIZURE

On Friday, 11th April, 2025, officers from the Anti-Gang & Firearm Investigation Task Force arrested a 22-year-old male following the seizure of suspected dangerous drugs.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m., officers executed a search warrant at a home on Willet Road, Eastern Estates. During the search, a quantity of suspected marijuana was recovered. As a result, a 50-yearold female was warned of prosecution, and a 22-year-old male was taken into police custody. The suspected marijuana is weighed at (2bls. 2ozs) with an estimated street value of $2,000.00.

Investigations into this matter are ongoing.

The Anti-Gang & Firearms Task Force Unit is a joint effort involving officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force, the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, Bahamas Customs, Department of Immigration, and international counterparts.

RECOVERED & STOLEN VEHICLES ALERT

Recovered

The following vehicle was recovered on Thursday, 10th April, 2025:

  1. A purple Nissan Cube L/P #AP5265 – recovered off Graham Drive, Yellow Elder Gardens. It was reported stolen on Thursday, 10th April, 2025, from Lobster Avenue.

Police seek the public’s assistance in locating the following vehicles that were reported stolen on Thursday, 10th April, 2025:

  1. A black 2013 Nissan Note L/P #AR8215 – stolen from Pink Cassia Avenue.
