NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE CONFISCATED FIREARM & SUSPECTED DANGEROUS DRUGS

On Tuesday, 18th March 2025, the Drug Enforcement Unit, assisted by other officers, confiscated a firearm, ammunition, and a quantity of suspected Dangerous Drugs.

According to initial reports, shortly after 5:00 p.m., officers, acting on information, conducted a search of an abandoned residence in the area of Prison Lane. During the search, a firearm was confiscated from a wooden structure attached to the residence, along with firearm components and a quantity of ammunition. Furthermore, with the assistance of the K-9 Unit, officers were also able to confiscate a quantity of suspected Marijuana from the premises. No arrests were made. The estimated weight of the suspected Marijuana is 2 lbs and four ounces, with a street value of $2,400.00.

Investigation continues.

MALE INJURED IN ACCIDENT AT SEA

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an accident at sea involving two American nationals while in the area of Antol Island.

Preliminary reports revealed that on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, shortly after 3:00 p.m., two American adult males were riding separate Jet Skis when they collided with each other in the area of Antol Island. They were assisted to Montague shore by locals, and one of the males, a 24-yearold who sustained injuries to his lower right leg, was transported by Emergency Medical Services to the hospital where is condition was last listed as stable.

POLICE INVESTIGATE STABBING INCIDENT

Police on the island of New Providence are investigating a stabbing of a 26-year-old male that has resulted in the victim requiring medical attention.

Initial reports revealed that on Tuesday, 18th March 2025, shortly after 9:30 p.m., police received a report that two family members were involved in a verbal altercation, which resulted in one of them being stabbed about the body. As a result, police and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene. The victim, who sustained injuries to the upper body area, was transported to the hospital for medical attention. The suspect fled the scene before the police arrived. The victim was last listed in serious but stable condition.

POLICE INVESTIGATE TWO (2) ARMED ROBBERIES

Police are investigating two alleged armed robberies that occurred on Tuesday, 18th March 2025, in the capital.

In the first incident, initial reports indicate that shortly before 11:30 p.m., the victim stopped to deposit money at a business establishment in the Carmichael Road area when he noticed a black Suzuki Swift pulled up and parked. As the victim returned to his vehicle, a lone male exited the parked vehicle, dressed in all black, approached him and produced a firearm, demanding his vehicle. He complied, and the culprit then drove off in the grey Honda Stream L/P#AM1934, followed by his accomplice in the next vehicle in an unknown direction.

In the second incident, initial reports revealed that sometime around 11:55 p.m., a female arrived home at her residence in Hepburn Estates when she was approached by a lone male in dark-coloured clothing who produced a firearm and demanded that she exit her vehicle. She complied, and the suspect then drove off and fled the scene in the black 2010 Toyota Passo L/P# AA9886 in an unknown direction.

POLICE CONFISCATED FIREARM – TWO INDIVIDUALS ARRESTED

On Wednesday, 19th March 2025, police in Eleuthera took into custody two adult males, ages 33 and 37 years old, in reference to the possession of a firearm, ammunition and a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs.

According to initial reports, shortly after 7:00 a.m., officers from the Eleuthera Flying Squad Unit, acting on information, executed a search warrant at a residence in the Bluff settlement. During the search, a firearm, a quantity of ammunition and suspected Marijuana were confiscated, leading to the arrest of the two male occupants. Investigation continues.

DEATH INVESTIGATION

Police in Eleuthera are investigating the discovery of the body of a male found near the vicinity of a business establishment in Governor’s Harbour.

According to the preliminary report, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, shortly after 10:00 a.m., the police were alerted to this incident. Police responded to the scene, where they discovered the body in an advanced stage of decomposition. As a result, an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. Investigation continues.
