NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL SHOOTING

Police are investigating a shooting incident that resulted in the death of an adult male that occurred on Tuesday, 11th March, 2025, in New Providence.

According to the preliminary report, shortly before 8:00 p.m., police responded to an alert by ShotSpotter Technology of gunfire in the area of Fleming Street and Baillou Hill Road. Upon the officers' arrival, they discovered a male unresponsive with apparent gunshot injuries in front of a place of divine worship.

In addition to the information regarding this incident as reported earlier from the scene, further investigation revealed that the victim was walking in the area of a church when two males clad in dark clothing, wearing white and black scarves, pulled up on blue-coloured scooters. One of the men reached into his pocket, after which the sound of gunshots was heard in the area.

The culprits then sped off at a high rate of speed in an unknown direction. Thereafter, a third male on a bicycle wearing a scarf entered the church yard. He leaped off his bicycle, jumped over the church wall, and fled in a southern direction. Emergency Medical Services visited the scene and confirmed that the male succumbed on the scene.

The investigation into this incident continues.

STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the following vehicles, which were reported stolen on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025.

  1. A Burgundy Nissan Note & a black Nissan Note L/P unknown: Stolen from the complainant residence in St. Andrews Beach Estates shortly before 4:00 a.m.
  2. A White Nissan Cube L/P # AU5450: Stolen from the complainant residence in East Dennis Court between 9:00 p.m. on 10th March, 2025 and 5:45 a.m. on 11th March, 2025.
  3. A Black Nissan Juke L/P # AS03309: Stolen from the complainant residence Lancelot Drive, Blue Hill Estates between 11:00 p.m. on 10th March, 2025 and 11th March, 2025.
RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE

On Tuesday, 11th March, 2025, sometime after 3:00 p.m., officers acting on information proceeded to the area of Eight Street, the Grove where they recovered the stolen vehicle mentioned below:

  • A 2013 Silver Nissan Note L/P # AS5839
