NEW PROVIDENCE

MAN ARRESTED, FOUR (4) FIREARMS CONFISCATED

Law enforcement officers confiscated four (4) firearms and arrested an adult male on Wednesday, 5th March, 2025, at a home off Rupert Dean Lane.

According to initial reports, officers from Operation Black Scorpion executed a search warrant around 1:00 p.m., uncovering two (2) high-powered weapons, two (2) pistols and a large quantity of ammunition. Consequently, the 36-year-old occupant was taken into custody and is assisting with the investigation.

Operation Black Scorpion is a collaborative effort involving the Police and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force Officers.

POLICE INVESTIGATE SUICIDE ATTEMPT

On Wednesday, 5th March, 2025, an investigation was launched into an alleged suicide attempt that occurred in the area of East Bay Street.

According to initial reports, officers from Central Division arrived at the Sir Sidney Poitier Bridge just before 1:00 p.m. where they met a male attempting to jump off the bridge. Police were able to successfully intervene prudently to prevent him from harming himself.

The 34-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the hospital for medical evaluation.

POLICE IDENTIFY TRAFFIC FATALITY VICTIMS

Police have confirmed the identities of the two (2) women victims involved in recent traffic fatalities.

The first victim is 23-year-old Shyanne Pierre, who was the driver involved in an accident that occurred on Saturday, 01st March, 2025, on Eastern Road.

The second victim is 25-year-old Chavette Beneby, who was the driver involved in an accident that occurred on Tuesday, 04th March, 2025, on Sapodilla Boulevard & Thatch Palm Avenue.

ABACO: SUICIDE INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

Police in Abaco are investigating an alleged suicide of a 63-year-old man that occurred on Wednesday, 5th March, 2025.

A security official on Guana Cay alerted police to the incident around 3:00 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a Caucasian male unresponsive, with an object tied around his neck and hanging from a private dock.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Investigation continues.
