NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE TWO (2) TRAFFIC FATALITIES

An investigation is underway into two (2) separate fatal traffic accidents that occurred on Tuesday,4th March, 2025, that claimed the lives of a 26-year-old female and an unidentified male driver.

In the first incident, police received a report of a traffic accident just before 3:00 p.m. Officers responded to the scene at Sapodilla Blvd and Thatch Palm Ave in Pinewood Gardens where they discovered a three (3) vehicle collision. It is reported that a black 2012 Mark X was being driven in an eastern direction on Sapodilla Blvd, when the driver of a black Nissan Cube was driving north on Thatch Palm Avenue, failed to stop at the intersection resulting in a collision. In addition, due to the crash, the driver of a white Mitsubishi L300 was at the stop sign heading south on Thatch Palm Avenue when his vehicle and a nearby private property sustained extensive damages from the collision.

The female driver of the black Nissan Cube succumbed to her injuries on the scene and the driver of the Mark X was assisted by EMS to the hospital for medical assessment.

In the second incident, police received a report of a traffic accident on Prince Charles Drive shortly before 7:00 p.m. Once the officers arrived, they discovered an extensively damaged white Toyota Corolla that had collided with a lamp post on the southern side of Prince Charles Drive. The lone male driver succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

Investigation continues.

STOLEN VEHICLES

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating two (2) stolen vehicles that were reported stolen on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025, in New Providence.

  1. A silver Nissan Serena L/P unknown: Stolen from a residence on Baillou Road South sometime after noon.
  2. A maroon Nissan March L/P unknown: Stolen between 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. from a residence on Montgomery Avenue.

POLICE ARRESTED MALE AT AIRPORT FOR AMMUNITION

Police have arrested a 38-year-old Caucasian male after discovering a quantity of ammunition in his possession while attempting to board a flight at the Grand Bahama International Airport.

Preliminary reports revealed that on Tuesday, 4th March 2025, sometime around 8:35 a.m., an American national was being processed by security officials at the airport when it was discovered that his personal belongings contained a quantity of ammunition. Subsequently, he was arrested and is assisting the police with their investigation.

  • Buckle up: Always wear your seatbelts and secure infants in the appropriate seating.
  • Be aware: Remain alert to possible hazards etc.
  • Avoid distractions: Don't use cell phones, eat, drink, or fiddle with the vehicle radio etc.
  • Drive responsibly: Always drive within the speed limit and obey all traffic signs. Do not speed, drive to arrive alive.
  • Be considerate: Be patient and respectful of other road users.
  • Obedience: Comply with all laws that govern the Road Traffic Act.
