Police Seize Handgun and Stolen Vehicle

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2017, a handgun and a stolen vehicle was recovered from a male suspect who eluded police on Saturday 15th July 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 11:30pm, officers assigned to the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol, when they saw a suspicious male standing in an abandoned building located at St. Paul's and Pilgrim Streets. The male on seeing the officers took a handgun from his waist and threw it to the ground before fleeing on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the male.

The handgun was retrieved and found to be a Taurus Pistol with 5 rounds of ammunition. The officers also recovered a cell phone and a 2008 Chrysler jeep taken during an armed robbery. Investigations are ongoing.
