Insp. Chrislyn Skippings
Chrislyn Skippings was born on the island of New Providence, Nassau Bahamas, to the proud parents of Christopher Roscoe Kemp (deceased) and Prescola Elizabeth Thompson-Kemp. She has three (3) brothers and two (2) sisters of whom she is the youngest.
The foundation for success was implemented at home and nurtured at the Bahamas Academy of Seventh-Day Adventist where she received her early education. Her secondary education was obtained at the Government High School where she graduated in May, 1986, with her High School Diploma.
On Completion of her graduation in 1986, attended the Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa where she received her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Biology, with a Minor in Natural Science in May, 1990. On October 15, 1990 she joined the Royal Bahamas Police Force and has served for 21 years. She is the recipient of the Royal Bahamas Police Force Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct, the Bahamas Academy of Seventh-Day Adventist Star Award and Save the Fathers Ministry, Model Mother Award.
During her career she has worked at the East Street South Police Station, Fox Hill Police Station, Police Control Room (919), Quakoo Street Police Station, Grove Police Station, the Police Academy and Central Division.
At the Police Academy, she served as the Assistant Chief Classroom Instructor, Recruit Training Instructor (persons joining the police force), In- Service Training Instructor (development training for current officers) and squad instructor.
In the Central Division she served as one of the Coordinators for the Central Neighbourhood Policing Unit, the Secretariat Manager to the National CCTV Steering Committee and as the Public Affairs & Communication Officer (press officer) for the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
Presently, Inspector Skippings is attached to the National Crime Prevention Office (NCPO) where she serves as the Public Affairs and Communications Officer for the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
Inspector Skippings has participated in a number of training sessions which has assisted in her developmental process such as: - First Line Supervisory Management Seminar, Instructor Technique Course (Orlando Florida) Adolescent Reproductive Health Education Seminar, Forum Gang Violence, Trainers Development Course, Seminar Teaching Pro-Social Behavior to Anti-Social Youths, Caribbean Anti-gang Seminar, Parenting Seminar, Community Policing Seminar, the La Red Business Network International Seminar, Conflict Resolution Seminar, National Information Officers Association Training, Suicide Risk Assessment Training, Performance Management Training Seminar, Partnership for Safe School Training Course(Omaha Nebraska) and Effective Writing for Public Servants Training.
Sergeant 2026 Skippings initiated the concept of Safe Halloween which is held annually at the Police Academy and Business Crime Watch. Additionally, she played a significant role in the structuring of the 2-4-2 Pre- Suspension programme.
She has also pioneered a number of areas within the Royal Bahamas Police Force namely: First Civilian Lab Technician - Forensic Lab, First Female to dress an Official Parade (Graduation Police College), First Subordinate officer to hold portfolio as the Public Affairs & Communications Officer.
She is the past President of the Bahamas Academy Early Learning Centre PTA, a position she has held twice. She served as secretary on the committee for the initial Police Women Conference and secretary on the committee for the formation of the Police Day Cay/After School Centre.
She is an active member of the Maranatha Seventh-Day Adventist Church located Prince Charles Drive, where she currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Children’s Choir.
Inspector Skippings enjoys her work with young people and believes that the youth model what they see. Therefore, leaders must demonstrate the character of Christ. She has three (3) children Oscar, Angel and Chamija and believes that a supportive family enhances our children’s status and future.
During her past time she enjoys watching football, basketball, playing volleyball, singing, cooking and traveling.
