Deputy Commissioner of Police
Mr. Quinn McCartney joined the Royal Bahamas Police Force on 1 January 1983. He has worked in several areas during his career that includes Serious Crime & Drug Section – Criminal Investigation Department, Forensic Science Section, Government House as Aide-de-Camp to the Governor General, Police Training College and Office of the Assistant Commissioner – Management & Support Services.
Deputy Commissioner Quinn McCartney was appointed to his current post by His Excellency The Governor General on June 1st, 2011.
Mr. McCartney is a two-time graduate of the College of The Bahamas where he obtained Associate
Degrees in Chemistry with Biology, and Management. He also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, and a Master of Science Degree in Forensic Science from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Police Management from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom, and Level 7 Executive Diploma in Strategic Management from the Chartered Management Institute, United Kingdom.
He has participated in a number of courses including:
- International Strategic Leadership Programme (ISLP), Bramshill, United Kingdom
- International Commanders Programme (ICP), Bramshill, England
- United Nations Fellowship Programme, Glasgow, Scotland
- United Nations Fellowship Programme, Vienna, Austria
Mr. McCartney is the recipient of the Queen's Police Medal, Police Force's Medal for Meritorious Service and the Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct.
He is the father of two children.
