Assistant Commissioner of Police
Born in Deep Creek, South Andros Assistant Commissioner Glenn Anthony Miller attended Deep Creek Andros All Age School. He later migrated to Nassau the capital, where he attained his high school education at Highbury High School. On completion he furthered his education at the A.F Adderley Evening Institution. Having completed studies, he enrolled in the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
In 1984, Assistant Commissioner Miller attended an international course in Drug Investigations at the Federal law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco Georgia, United States, 1995 he completed an Executive Leadership course in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, again 1995 he completed a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Inter-American Drug Workshop in Ottawa Canada. In 1997 ACP Miller completed a course in Criminal Investigation at The West Yorkshire Police Training College in Wakefield England. In 1998 he completed a Joint United States Customs and The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) Explosives and International Firearms Trafficking course in Spanish Town, Jamaica. In 1998 ACP Miller completed an Advance International Firearms Trafficking and Identification Course in Washington DC; in 2000 he attended the Caribbean Drug Commander’s Conference in Grenada. In 2001 he graduated from the FBI National Academy Quantico, Virginia, USA.
ACP Miller served in a number of Divisional command positions within The Royal Bahamas Police Force. His responsibilities included; coordinating Joint Interdiction efforts with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Bahamian Drug Enforcement Unit and other International Agencies as the need arose. 1996-1998 Deputy Commander at the Firearms Investigation Unit, 1998-2000 Deputy Commander The Drug Enforcement Unit New Providence, 2000-2003 Deputy Commander, Central Detective Unit New Providence, 2003-2005 Commanding Officer Central Detective Unit Grand Bahama, 2005-2006 Commanding Officer Central Detective Unit New Providence and Grand Bahama, 2006-2009 Commanding Officer Central Detective Unit New Providence and 2009 -2010 Commanding Officer Central Division New Providence.
ACP Miller is the recipient of the Royal Bahamas Police Force medal for Meritorious Service, long service and good conduct. In 2000 ACP Miller received the International Award of Honour from the International Narcotic Enforcement Officers Association for outstanding accomplishment in the field of narcotic law enforcement in Mesa, Arizona, USA.
In January of 2010, Assistant Commissioner Miller was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police, where he assumed the portfolio for Crime, Management and Operations, with responsibilities of: - Criminal Records Office, Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Divisional Detective Units, Commercial Crime Section, Technology Crime Investigation Unit, Selective Enforcement Team, Homicide Squad, Serious Crime Section, Missing Persons Investigations Unit, Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit, Stolen Vehicles Task Force, Gang Intervention Unit, Central Division, Southern Division, Western Division, Southwestern Division, Traffic Division, Mobile Patrol Division, Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) and Special Investigation Unit (SIU).
Assistant Commissioner Miller is the past President of the Junior Acolytes at St. Agnes Anglican Church. His relaxation comes from gardening, basketball and track and field.
ACP Miller is married to Valerie Miller nee Pratt, the Principal Nursing Officer at The Princess Margaret Hospital. He and his family worships at St. Agnes Anglican Church and he is the proud father of five sons.
