Police investigates the discovery of a partially decomposed body

Police on the island of New Providence are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a partially decomposed body on Tuesday 11th, May 2021.

Preliminary reports are that sometime around 11:00 a.m., police were called to the soccer field at the Blue Hills Sporting Complex where the partially decomposed body of a male was found. On the arrival of the officers, they were directed onto the northeastern corner of the field, where an employee pointed out a black male lying on the ground in a fetal position. The body was examined by detectives, there were no visible signs of injuries. The cause of death is not known at this time. Police will await an autopsy report to determine the cause of death and the identification by a next of kin to determine the victim's identity.

Police investigates a shooting incident

Police on the island of New Providence are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday 11th, May 2021 and resulted in an adult male being detained in hospital.

Preliminary reports are that shortly after 6:00 p.m., while on Polhemus Street a male was accosted by three males who started beating him about the body. One of the suspects then produced a handgun and discharged it at the victim hitting him in the stomach before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle. He is listed in critical condition at this time. Investigations into this incident are ongoing.
