Police are investigating a Traffic Fatality

Police on the island of New Providence are investigating a Traffic Fatality which occurred on Sunday 7th, November 2021.

Preliminary reports are that shortly before 11:00 p.m., police were alerted to a traffic accident that occurred in the vicinity of Eastlyn and Village Road involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Officers were dispatched and on their arrival at that scene, they were directed to a gray 2015 Honda Accord which collided with a lamp pole. A further inspection of the scene revealed the unresponsive body of a male on the outside of the vehicle. Investigations revealed that the male driver of the Honda Accord was traveling south along Village Road when a vehicle that was overtaking in a northerly direction caused him to swerve, resulting in him colliding into a lamp pole and a male pedestrian. Emergency Medical Services visited the scene and pronounced the pedestrian lifeless. The driver was transported to the hospital by EMS as a result of injuries that he sustained. The Royal Bahamas Police Force Traffic Section will continue investigations into this matter.

Police advisory to holders of Licensed Firearms

The Firearms Licensing Authority wishes to remind the holders of licensed firearms that the 2022 licensing period commences on the 1st of November 2021. The fee for shotguns is $150 and $300 for rifles. Licensed holders are also reminded that a late fee of $50 begins on 15th January 2022.
