Police arrested two male suspects for Possession of the proceeds of crime

Preliminary reports are that shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday 23rd, September 2021 in a joint operation with OPBAT. Officers from the Drug Enforcement and Marine Support Unit while at the Inagua International Airport conducting enquiries, observed two males disembarked an aircraft acting in a suspicious manner. The officers approached the suspects and informed them that they were suspected of being in possession of dangerous drugs and firearms and requested to conduct a search, to which the suspects agreed.

The field search was carried out, during which the officers discovered four suitcases. When opened they were each found to contain an undetermined amount of currency. The suspects were unable to give a satisfactory account of how they came into possession of the money. They were arrested, taken into custody, and transported into New Providence where they were handed over to Financial Crimes Investigation Branch. Investigations into this Matter continue.

Police are investigating a Traffic Fatality on the island of Andros

Preliminary reports are that shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Thursday 23rd, September 2021 police at the Mangrove Cay Station received information of a traffic accident involving to motorcycles in the community of Grants'. Officers were dispatched and on their arrival they met two motorcycles extensively damaged and two males lying on the ground suffering from injuries.

Initial investigations revealed that the cyclists were travelling in opposite direction along Queens Highway when they collided into each other. Both victims were transported to the local clinic. One of the males later succumbed to his injuries. Investigations into this matter continue.
