NEW PROVIDENCE

15 FIREARMS, AMMUNITION & DRUGS CONFISCATED BY POLICE

Thirteen (13) pistols and two (2) high-powered weapons, along with a large assortment of ammunition and suspected marijuana, have been seized by police after executing a search warrant on a residence located on Sandilands Village Road.

Preliminary reports revealed that on Wednesday 15th May, 2024, around 10:30 a.m., officers from the Traffic Division observed the driver of a black van driving in a dangerous and reckless manner on John F. Kennedy Drive and subsequently stopped him. Officers conducted a routine name check and vehicle search, uncovering a quantity of suspected marijuana and several outstanding traffic arrest warrants for the 30-year-old driver who was taken into custody. Subsequently, officers executed a search warrant on the driver’s residence and discovered the weapons, ammunition, and dangerous drugs.

At present, the estimated weight and street value of the suspected dangerous drugs are currently unknown. Investigations continue.

POLICE SEEK HELP IN LOCATING DRIVER RESPONSIBLE FOR HIT & RUN

Police are requesting the public’s help in locating the driver responsible for fatally killing a 29- year-old male during a traffic accident that occurred shortly after 4:00 a.m. on Saturday 11th May, 2024.

Additional inquiries made by officers from the Traffic Division uncovered that the vehicle in question, believed to be a silver Honda Fit was traveling east on Poinciana Avenue when the driver collided with the deceased, who was operating a blue and white Yamaha motorcycle that was traveling south on Market Street.

The driver fled the scene, but the vehicle will have noticeable damage to the windshield and front end.

Police are once again appealing to members of the public who may have seen or have knowledge of this fatal hit and run accident to contact the Traffic Division at 397-8050, 393-7713, or visit the nearest police station.

On Thursday, May 16, 2024, commencing at 2:00 p.m., the Church of God of Prophecy will be presenting bullet-proof vests to the Royal Bahamas Police Force as part of their partnership to foster safer communities.
