NEW PROVIDENCE

LATEST HOMICIDE INVESTIGATED BY POLICE

An investigation is underway into a shooting incident that took place in the Bain Town community, resulting in the death of a 22-year-old male and the hospitalization of a 28-year-old male.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly before 4:00 p.m. on Thursday May, 16th , 2024.

According to preliminary reports the victims, both occupants of a silver Suzuki Solio were traveling east on Ferguson Street when they were obstructed by a small gray Japanese vehicle.

It is reported that three masked males, all armed with high-powered weapons and handguns, exited their vehicle and opened fire on the victim's vehicle, forcing the victims to flee in search of safety. However, the assailants pursued them and shot both of them multiple times.

The 22-year-old male succumbed to his injuries on scene; he was found in possession of a loaded firearm and was being electronically monitored for murder and firearm-related matters, while the 28-year-old male was taken to the hospital via private vehicle, where at present his condition is unknown.

ARRAIGNMENT

Police wish to inform the general public that on Thursday 16th May, 2024, the following individuals will be placed before the Magistrate’s Court:

  • A 15-year-old juvenile male charged with Murder and of Possession of a Firearm with Intent Endanger Life-(2 counts).
  • A 16-year-old juvenile male charged with Accessory after the Fact to Murder

This is in connection with the fatal shooting incident that occurred on Friday, May 10th, 2024, in the Quintine Alley area, resulting in the death of 18-year-old Renick Jean-Louis.

  • An 18-year-old male charged with Murder.

This is connected to the fatal shooting incident that occurred on Saturday, May 11th, 2024, at a residence on Smith's Lane, resulting in the death of 15-year-old Recardo Bridgewater.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY

An investigation has been launched into an armed robbery incident that occurred on Wednesday 15th May, 2024, in Jubilee Gardens.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 5:00 p.m., the victim was about to leave a home on Pine Street when a dark-colored Japanese model vehicle pulled up behind him. It is reported that an unknown male quickly exited from the vehicle, armed with an unidentified object, and robbed the victim of his white-trimmed black 2023 Yamaha XTZ motorbike. The culprit left the scene on the stolen motorbike, traveling west on Pine Street towards Gladstone Road, followed by the accomplice vehicle.

Police are appealing to members of the public to be on the lookout for the stolen motorcycle. SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR SUSPECTED MARIJUANA

Police confiscated a quantity of suspected dangerous drugs, resulting in the arrest of two (2) individuals on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

According to initial reports, a team of officers from the Central Intelligence Bureau, Cable Beach Police Station, the Anti-Gang & Firearms Investigation Task Force, and SWAT executed a search warrant at a residence on Yorkshire Street off West Bay Street around 8:30 p.m., found a quantity of suspected marijuana, and arrested a male and female occupant.

The estimated weight and street value of the suspected drugs is currently unknown as investigations continue.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

GRAND BAHAMA: MURDER INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

Police in Grand Bahama are investigating the discovery of a lifeless adult male on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before 9:00 a.m., officers were summoned to an unfinished home on Bronze Drive in Fortune Bay following the discovery of an unresponsive male with apparent gunshot wounds to his body. EMS personnel visited the scene, examined the victim but could not detect any vital signs of life.

Police describe the deceased as having a dark complexion and dressed in a white T-shirt and dark- colored short pants. Police urge anyone with information about this incident or who can identify the victim to contact 911, 919, or Grand Bahama's Criminal Investigation Department.
