NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE SEPARATE HOMICIDES

Investigations are underway into two (2) separate shooting incidents that resulted in the death of two (2) males.

Police were alerted of the first incident through its Shot Spotter technology on Friday 10th May, 2024, around 10:30 p.m.

According to initial reports, the victim and two other males were on a basketball court at a nearby school on Wulff Road when they were approached by three other males, all dressed in hooded jackets.

It is reported that the males got into a confrontation that led to both the victim and the males leaving the area. Following the confrontation, one of the males in the hooded jacket produced a firearm and opened fire on the males which resulted in the 18-year-old being shot.

The victim was taken to the hospital via emergency services for medical attention, but he succumbed shortly thereafter.

The second incident, also detected by Shot Spotter technology, took place on Saturday 11th May, 2024, around 3:15 a.m. According to preliminary reports, a 15-year-old male was asleep inside a residence on Smith’s Lane off Wulff Road when some unknown person forced open a bedroom window and discharged gunshots on the inside, shooting the juvenile multiple times about the body.

EMS personnel attended the scene, examined the victim but were unable to find any vital signs of life.

Police, acting on information, subsequently arrested two (2) juvenile males, both 15 years old.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY

On Saturday 11th May, around 1:20 a.m., police initiated an investigation into an armed robbery occurring on Poinciana Avenue and Market Street.

According to preliminary reports, two (2) unknown gunmen confronted the victim at a nearby church and robbed him of his green 2024 Kia Sportage L/P #AJ2568. Both culprits entered the stolen vehicle and fled the area traveling south along Market Street.

Anyone possessing additional information about this armed robbery is urged to contact 911, 919, or the Criminal Investigation Department @ 502-9991. Additionally, anonymous tips are also welcome through CRIME STOPPERS @ 328-TIPS (8477).

POLICE INVESTIGATE TRAFFIC FATALITY

On Saturday 11th May, 2024, police launched an investigation into a traffic fatality involving an adult male motorcyclist.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 4:00 a.m., a male motorcyclist was found lying unresponsive alongside a blue Yamaha 125 motorcycle in a bushy area, on Poinciana Avenue east of Market Street.

EMS personnel attended the scene, examined the victim but were unable to find any vital signs of life.

The details surrounding the fatal crash are currently unknown and police are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or witnessed it to call 911, 919, the Traffic Division at 397-8050, 393-7713, or visit the nearest police station.

UPDATE: OVERNIGHT HOMICIDES CONNECTED

Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department are currently investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred overnight, resulting in the deaths of two young males, aged 15 and 18 years.

Following the second incident, which occurred at a residence on Smith’s Lane off Wulff Road, police, acting on information, arrested two (2) juvenile males, both 15 years old.

The police are satisfied based on their investigation thus far, that both incidents are connected.

At present police are uncertain of a motive for the incident. Investigations continue.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

GRAND BAHAMA: POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY

Police in Grand Bahama are investigating an armed robbery incident that occurred on Friday 10th May, 2024 at a business establishment located on Lunar Boulevard.

According to reports, a lone male entered the establishment around 10:00 a.m. and held an employee at bay with an unidentified object as he robbed the establishment of an undisclosed sum of cash, before fleeing the scene.

FAMILY ISLANDS

SAN SALVADOR: POLICE CONFISCATE DANGEROUS DRUGS

Police in San Salvador confiscated three (3) pounds of suspected cocaine worth an estimated thirty thousand ($30,000.00) dollars on Saturday, May 11, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 10:00 a.m., officers, acting on information, seized the dangerous drugs from a beach in Fortune Hill.

There were no arrests made in connection with this discovery. Investigations are ongoing.
